What is Hematoma? Hematoma is disease which refers to an abnormal collection of blood outside of a blood vessel usually partially clotted in a tissue or in a organ which result a broken or ruptured blood vessel. Hematoma is occurring when the wall of blood vessel, vein, capillary or artery is damage and blood vessel leaks blood in to the surrounding tissue. It can affect at any part on the body. It can cause a minor skin bruise in organ, muscles or in the skull. There are several types of hematoma like: Subdural hematomas : It is a collection of clotting blood which occurs between the middle layer of brain and the brain dura. Subdural hematomas are mainly caused by head trauma. It can cause serious head injuries and difficult to remove. Acute subdural hematomas may occur in any age of group. Chronic subdural hematomas are common in the elder people. Epidural hematomas : Epidural hematomas are also referring to head trauma which often caused skull fracture during childhood.
