Vitiligo Causes, Symptoms and Treatments


Vitiligo is a skin problem means pigmentation disorder which result in white patches or irregular pale of skin. When the skin is producing pigment cells then it is called melanocytes. Vitiligo is occur when the cells of skin is die and stop producing pigment and skin get white or lighter. The hair in affected area may turn in white. In our body all part of skin is affected, some common areas are face, lips, hands and legs. It affects both sexes equally.
There are three types of vitiligo :

Generalized Pattern Vitiligo: It is a disorder which can appear anywhere in the body, the melanocytes in the skin are destroyed and cause patches which is developed both side of the body.

Segmental Pattern Vitiligo: Non segmental pattern vitiligo is common in people and cause both side of the body where as segmental pattern vitiligo develop only one side of the body.

Focal Pattern Vitiligo: This skin disorder is called leucoderma, or Vitiligo. It causes smooth white color patches which appear on the body. This type is limited only few areas.

Causes of Vitiligo: Depigmentation of melanin cells are the main cause of developing Vitiligo. It occur when immune cells destroy the cells that produce brown pigment Vitiligo is caused by genetic factor, family history play an important role to causing it, low levels of vitamins, sun burn, neural hypothesis, emotional factors skin trauma or due to physical or mental stress. Among 80% of people are suffering from auto immune disease.

Symptoms of Vitiligo: Firstly in the symptoms of vitiligo usually notice white patches, and the most obvious sign is loss of pigment. These patches are shown on the face, hands and feet’s. It affects both side equally, all these patches are commonly found in sun exposed area. In some cases it represent in all over the body according to its type. Some signs are shown in corner in mouth, around the eyes (loss of change color in the inner layers of your eye). It is affected any part of the body.

Precaution of Vitiligo: For the precaution of this disease we can use sunscreen to avoid ultraviolet rays.

Treatment of Vitiligo: For the disease of vitiligo early treatment is important. If there is sign may appear on your body the consult your physician doctor. Doctor will take all history about your skin then suggest many treatments like therapy which is used to restore the skin color, some medical treatment, and surgical treatment. It is incurable disease proper treatment is required to reduce the patches on your skin.
