What is Hematoma?






Causes of hematomas: The most common cause of hematomas is trauma or injury. Trauma is just like a serious injury or threat. Anyone can affect by trauma from accident or fall down hematomas is occur when the blood vessel is broken or injured or blood can leaks in to the surrounding tissue. The area gets painful after some time. Some minor injury affect small blood vessels, skin bruise in organ, injury in large vessel cause large hematomas. In some cases it becomes serious life threatening problem.

Symptoms of hematomas: The most common cause of hematomas is irritation and inflammation or some symptoms are depending on the location. Sometimes it may take several week to appear. Some sign and symptoms are:

• Vomiting
• Dizziness
• Confusion
• Unequal pupil size
• Increasing in blood pressure
• Tiny and red dots on your skin
• Hit your leg or arm, which cause bleeding under the skin.


Some symptoms along with head injuries:

• Loss of brain functions
• Difficulty in breathing
• Severe headache, weakness
• Bone fracture especially of the face or skull
• Confusion, trouble in speaking


Precautions from hematomas: For the precaution of hematomas the patient may take warm bath to reduce the possibility of hematoma. Some drugs help to reduce the chance of swelling.

Treatment of hematomas: Sometime it become life threatening problem the emergency treatment is often necessary. When the patient has injury and bleeding does not stop then it’s a time to call doctor for the treatment. Doctor will suggest some surgeries to reduce the injuries or suggest nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and some other medicine for pain relief and suggest to using rice, ice on the area it help to control pain or bleeding. What is Asterixis? Asterixis is a type of movement disorder characterized by arrhythmic flexion movements of hands evoked by dorsiflexion of the wrists and outstretched arms. It is an involuntary tremor of the wrist loss of sustained contraction of the arms against ones will. It is produced by lapse of sustained posture. Mainly it causing hand tremors and the tremor occurs in both wrists and is not rhythmic characterized by metacarpophalangeal joints, jerky, irregular movements at the wrist and often accompanied by lateral movements of the fingers.
