HIV Causes Symptoms and Treatment


What is HIV?

HIV is the infection now spread to many countries in the world. About 40 million people are currently living with HIV/AIDS infection and 25 million have died from this infection.HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. AIDS stands for acquired immunodeficiency syndrome. HIV is like virus including the causes of flu. HIV virus infects human being and other blood cells which lead to problems with their immune system. AIDS is condition caused by HIV virus and most advanced stage of infection. AIDS is the final stage of HIV and a group of symptoms and disease associated with the damage HIV. The difference between AIDS and HIV is that means if anyone having AIDS then He/she is HIV positive that damage your immune system. AIDS is not a single disease caused by HIV.

Causes of HIV: HIV can be caused on because the virus is present in the blood of infected people and sexual fluids. AIDS does not occur without HIV. Common bacteria and viruses do not cause serious disease with healthy immune systems cause fatal illnesses in people with AIDS. HIV has been found in nervous system tissue, saliva, tears, blood, semen and spinal fluid. This can be spread:

• If a man has unprotected sex with a women then it can be infected by HIV.AIDS destroys a particular type of white blood cell which causes progressive immunodeficiency.
• By blood transfusions or needle sharing
• Having any contact with infected blood or body fluids.
• A virus can transmit from mother to child through their shared blood circulation. Infants born to mothers with HIV did not receive HIV therapy at the time of pregnancy.
• Some Other causes are accidental needle injury; inject able drug abuse and organ transplantation with infected organs.

Symptoms of HIV: Some people with HIV have no Symptoms for 10 years or longer. Other symptoms may develop similar to flu. Till the symptoms are not developing the virus continues to multiply actively and kills the cells of the immune system. Initial Sign and symptoms of HIV include:
• Fever
• Tiredness
• Headache
• Diarrhea


Later sign and symptoms are:
• Diarrhea lasting more than a week
• Swollen lymph glands in the neck or groin
• Dry cough
• Seizures and lack of coordination
• Coma
• Mental Symptoms
• Depression, Memory Loss
• Cervical cancer
• White spots on the tongue


The symptoms of AIDS/HIV are similar to other illness or flu.

Precautions of HIV:
• Using condoms during sex
• Do not use illicit drugs and not share syringes or needles
• Avoid contact with other person’s blood cells
• Pregnant women should seek counseling to their unborn child.

Treatment of HIV: If anyone is engaged with in unprotected sex or shared needles while using drugs then they should have an HIV test. HIV would be diagnosis with blood test. The blood is re-tested several times before a positive result is given. Doctor will diagnosis with a combination of several antiretroviral drugs, called highly active antiretroviral therapy help to reducing the number of HIV particles in the bloodstream. Doctors recommend several drugs help to reduce the HIV-related complications and deaths.

Protease inhibitors: This medicine preventing cells from producing new viruses.

Integrate inhibitors: Help to stop HIV genes from becoming incorporated into the human cell's DNA.
Antiretroviral viral drugs: This medicine helps to stop viral replication.
Pregnant women who have HIV positive should immediately take HAART therapy and certain drugs.

Other drugs are lamivudine, emtricitabine, stavudine all these drugs interrupt the virus from duplicating which may slow the cause of HIV/AIDS. People should be under the regular care in the treatment of HIV.
