Eclampsia Causes, Symptoms and Treatment


What is Eclampsia?

Eclampsia is a serious condition occurring immediately or during after pregnancy. It is hypertension disorder affect only women normally preceded by a collection of circulatory disturbances which results seizures or coma but are not due to preexisting or organic brain disorders. It can occur at any stage during the time of pregnancy. Eclampsia is a life-threatening complication of pregnancy cause death of the mother and baby. Almost all pregnancy becomes complicated by high blood pressure.

Causes of Eclampsia: Exact cause of eclampsia is does not know some researcher aspect due to insufficient of blood flow causes the problem. Other risk factor is:

Previous history of preeclampsia
Blood vessels
Genetic factors
Vision changes, rapid weight gain
First and teenage pregnancy
History of blood pressure and diabetes
Swelling in the brain
Bleeding from small arteries


All these factors increase the risk of eclampsia.

Differential Diagnosis:
Epilepsy (About Epilepsy): It occurs before pregnancy
High blood pressure (About Blood Pressure)
Liver disease: History of alcohol or jaundice
Gallbladder disease (About Gallbladder)
Pancreatic disease (About Pancreatic): Due to alcohol use.


Symptoms of Eclampsia: Symptoms may be developed according to the organ systems that are affected and these canges are affected both mother and mom. The symptom of unborn babies is slower growth compared to a baby that is developing normally. Baby receives less nutrients and oxygen. Some symptoms are:

The most common symptom is high blood pressure
Rapid weight gain
Dizziness
Excessive nausea and vomiting
Blood in urine or vomit
Confusion
Abdominal pain (About Abdominal pain)
Swelling of the face or arms
Muscle pains and aches

Precautions of Eclampsia: Throughout the pregnancy very careful in first three months about using drugs, alcohol and medication. Try to avoid shark, king mackerel, swordfish or tilefish, completely avoiding alcoholic, only drink pasteurized milk.

Treatment of Eclampsia: Doctor will recommend the treatment according to the symptoms particularly high blood pressure. Doctor will take some physical check up and monitored. To avoid the dangerous complication for both mother and baby appropriate treatment is essential. For severe eclampsia delivery is the treatment. Doctor will prescribe you magnesium sulfate for baby and mom, medication to lower high blood pressure, bed rest. Take proper check up regularly when you are pregnant its help to avoid these complications.
